02nd Ghai Memorial Cricket Tournament Finale'

2nd Ghai Memorial Cricket Tournament Final Match was played between Happy Model School and New Era Public School on 14th Feb. 2017 in which New Era Public School took the Winner’s Trophy defeating HMS by 4 wickets. HMS raised the runners-up trophy. The Man of the Series award jointly went to Ayush Sharma (HMS) and Ayush Rana(NEPS). Tejas Malhotra of NEPS was declared the best batsman where as the trophy for the best bowler was awarded to Shery Walia of NEPS. Ayushman of HMS was declared the best wicket keeper.

2nd GHAI MEMORIAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT AT HAPPY MODEL SCHOOL

The 2nd Ghai Memorial Cricket Tournament , with the aim to promote cricket among school students, under 12, was inaugurated by the Principal of Happy Model School, Janak Puri, Ms. Astha Ghai Walia , the host school, on 23rd November 2016. The school stadium was the venue for the inaugural match played between the host school and G.D.Goyanka School, Model Town. Eight schools of New Delhi will participate in the tournament to make their mark in the field of Cricket, competing for the Ghai Memorial Cricket Tournament Trophy. 

The toss was won by the captain of Happy Model School Team, Ayush Sharma,who decided to ball first. The target of 179 runs was given by G.D.Goenka School team to the opponent team to win the match. Rakshit Sharma scored 68 runs and Tanishq Sharma added 37 runs to the score. G.D.Goyanka Team was declared the winner of the match. 

Utkarsh of HMS gave 21 runs in 5 overs, taking 3 wickets. Jaspreet gave 7 runs in 2 overs taking 2 wickets. Utkarsh scored 61 runs. All the players of HMS team were declared out at 143 runs, in 20.3 overs. Jagrit of GDG gave 17 runs in 5 overs taking 5 wickets and was declared ‘the Man of the Match’. Angad gave 23 runs in 2.3 overs taking 3 wickets. The next match in the series is scheduled for 26th November 2016. 

Sports Events & Achievements

1st GHAI MEMORIAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT

Ghai Memorial Cricket Tournament, an endeavour to promote cricket among school students, under 12, was inaugurated by the school Principal of Happy Model School, Janak Puri, Ms. Astha Ghai Walia. The school stadium was the venue for all the 24 matches to be played during the months of October and November. Eight schools of New Delhi participated in the tournament to make their mark in the field of Cricket. 

After three rounds played by each team the teams which were able to make to the semi finals were of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, Happy Model School, Janak Puri, New Era Public School and West Delhi Cricket Academy.

Happy Model School and New Era Public School were declared as winners in the semi finals on 25th November and entered the finals.

The final game was played on 30th January 2016 and Happy Model School team took the winner’s trophy beating New Era Public School by seven wickets. Former England Cricket Players Alan Mullally and Robin Smith were the Chief Guests to the occasion who handed over the Winner’s Trophy to the Captain of the Winner Team, Ayush Sharma. Tarun Bist was declared as the man of the match. In their encouraging speech they congratulated the winners, appreciated the initiative taken by the host school for organizing a tournament of such value and appreciated the team schools’ endeavour to come forward to participate in the competition. The event concluded with the vote of thanks presented by the school Principal, Ms. Astha Ghai Walia.

ZONAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

The school was the venue for the Zonal Chess Championship in which students from various schools of the zone participated to make their mark in the game. The school Auditorium was the battleground for the competition.
